Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández, a U.S. Congresswoman from New Mexico, addressed issues of abuse, power structures, and veterans' rights in a series of posts on her social media account in early September 2025.
On September 4, 2025, Rep. Leger Fernández shared a link to a letter with the statement: "Read one letter here: https://t.co/Bk2td1YoRD".
Later that day, she commented on ongoing efforts to combat abuse and systemic protection of abusers. She wrote: "This fight isn’t just about Epstein— it’s about ending the abuse of women and girls in America.
It’s about breaking the systems of power that protect abusers and pedophiles.
The survivors fight for every victim, we fight alongside them. https://t.co/GVAQgMxQ6o" (September 4, 2025).
The following day, Rep. Leger Fernández criticized actions taken by the Department of Veterans Affairs under former President Trump regarding abortion care for veterans. She stated: "Trump’s VA is ripping abortion care away from our veterans.
If they are willing to rip away freedoms from veterans who sacrificed everything for ours, who’s safe? https://t.co/0OSmavnnJD" (September 5, 2025).
Leger Fernández has served as a U.S. Representative since winning her seat in 2020. She secured reelection victories in both 2022 and 2024 general elections against Alexis Martinez Johnson and Sharon Clahchischilliage respectively.
