The U.S. Army has awarded the Javelin Joint Venture (JJV) a production contract for Javelin missiles and related equipment, with a value up to $900.5 million for fiscal year 2025. The contract includes Foreign Military Sales to Brazil and Tunisia, marking the first time South American and North African countries will use the Javelin system.
This latest award follows an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity production contract that began in May 2023. The Javelin team recently implemented new tooling and test equipment to improve production efficiency in response to higher demand.
“Javelin remains the world's most effective, combat-proven anti-armor system,” said Brian Burton, vice president of Precision Fires and Maneuver at Raytheon, an RTX business. “We're working closely with the U.S. Army and international customers, and continuing to invest in our production facilities, to meet global demand for Javelin.”
The contract expands support for over 25 international customers, now including Brazil and Tunisia. With these additions, the Javelin weapon system is deployed on every continent except Antarctica. Other recipients under this agreement include Estonia and Bulgaria—both NATO allies—and Australia.
“With Javelin's continued global demand, our ability to ramp production is crucial in supporting our customers' needs,” said Rich Liccion, JJV vice president and Lockheed Martin Javelin program director. “This contract also demonstrates the confidence our customers have in Javelin's reliability and effectiveness in meeting its mission. We are committed to delivering this critical defense solution to help our partners stay ahead of ready and defend against the ever-evolving threats worldwide.”
Javelin is developed by Raytheon in Tucson, Arizona, together with Lockheed Martin in Orlando, Florida. To date, more than 55,000 missiles and over 12,000 reusable Command Launch Units have been produced by the joint venture.
Lockheed Martin describes itself as a global defense technology company focused on innovation across multiple domains; more information can be found at www.lockheedmartin.com. Raytheon is part of RTX and supplies defense solutions for government clients around the world.
