New Mexico is preparing to host the IEEE International Conference on Quantum Computing and Engineering, also known as Quantum Week, at the Albuquerque Convention Center from August 31 to September 5. The event will bring together researchers and industry representatives in quantum science and technology, with keynote speeches scheduled from leaders at IBM, Microsoft, and NVIDIA.

The New Mexico Economic Development Department (EDD) has announced that it will unveil a major new partnership during the conference, further highlighting the state’s involvement in quantum innovation. Earlier this week, EDD selected Roadrunner Venture Studios as its partner to manage $25 million aimed at accelerating quantum innovation and commercialization.

A New Mexico Quantum Pavilion will be set up at the conference to showcase local initiatives and organizations involved in the field. Participants include the City of Albuquerque, New Mexico Partnership, Roadrunner Venture Studio, Elevate Quantum, CNM Ingenuity, Sandia National Laboratories, the University of New Mexico, and the Air Force Research Laboratory.

Rob Black, Secretary of Economic Development for New Mexico, said: “This is a moment of transformative energy and momentum for quantum in New Mexico. We’re positioned to connect research, industry, and investment to turn quantum innovation into real-world breakthroughs.”

Zachary Yerushalmi, CEO & Regional Innovation Officer of Elevate Quantum stated: “In this official Year of Quantum — the 100th anniversary of the field — it’s fitting that New Mexico hosts the IEEE Quantum Conference. The state’s special role reflects not only its history of innovation, but also the scale and ambition of its strategy today to accelerate the commercialization of this technology at unprecedented speed. Elevate Quantum is proud to support New Mexico and the region in realizing a technology that can catapult us into the Jetsons’ age and usher in a new economic paradigm for all.”

New Mexico’s participation is supported by established institutions such as Sandia National Laboratories and Los Alamos National Laboratory along with local universities and coalitions of entrepreneurs working in quantum technologies.
