Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández highlights labor rights and calls for transparency in recent posts

Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández, a U.S. Representative from New Mexico, recently addressed labor rights and political transparency in a series of posts on her official social media account.

On September 1, 2025, Leger Fernández marked Labor Day by joining local workers at an AFSCME picnic. She wrote, "Happy Labor Day, Trabajadores! Today at the AFSCME picnic, I stood with New Mexico’s workers whose rights are under attack. We’ll keep organizing against Trump’s attacks on labor—because when we fight together, we win fairness, dignity & respect."

The following day, she commented on former President Donald Trump's legislative proposals. On September 2, 2025, she posted: "Apparently, Trump wants to rename his so-called 'One Big Beautiful Bill.' I think it deserves something a little more honest… What should we call it instead? Drop your best names in the replies."

Later that same day, Leger Fernández outlined her priorities as Congress reconvened in Washington D.C., stating: "Congress is back in DC and I’m fighting for two things: 1. Lower the cost of living. 2. Transparency from this corrupt White House. Release the files and bring justice to the women and children survivors!"

Leger Fernández has held her seat since winning consecutive elections against Republican challengers. In 2024, she defeated Sharon Clahchischilliage with 41.8% of the vote compared to Clahchischilliage's 43.7%. In previous cycles—2022 and 2020—she won against Alexis Martinez Johnson with margins of approximately 58% to 42%.
