The Powerball jackpot for the drawing on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, is estimated at $1.3 billion, with a cash value of $589 million. This makes it the fifth-largest jackpot in Powerball’s 33-year history.
According to New Mexico Lottery officials, players in the state have won a total of $1.88 million in prizes since the current jackpot run began on June 1, 2025.
New Mexico Lottery CEO David Barden said, “It’s wonderful to see our players and New Mexico students winning. As interest and sales increase in Powerball, our students and players benefit. Thanks to everyone who buys a ticket. Just keep it fun and only play what you can afford.”
If a player from New Mexico wins the current jackpot, it would be the sixth time the top prize has been claimed in the state and would mark the largest jackpot ever won there.
Tickets for Wednesday’s draw can be purchased until 8:00 p.m. Mountain Time on September 3.
Powerball tickets cost $2 per play. Players may also purchase add-ons such as Power Play for an additional $1 per play to multiply non-jackpot prizes or Double Play for another chance to win up to $10 million in a second drawing held after each regular draw.
Powerball tickets are available in 45 states as well as Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Over half of all proceeds from ticket sales stay within the jurisdiction where they are sold. Drawings take place live from Tallahassee, Florida and are also streamed online at Powerball.com.
Since its inception in 1996, the New Mexico Lottery has contributed more than $1.08 billion to education funding through Legislative Lottery Scholarships, helping over 155,000 students attend college across the state.
