The New Mexico Taxation & Revenue Department is set to conduct delinquent property tax auctions in five counties this September. The auctions, which will take place in Curry, Sierra, Hidalgo, Grant, and Catron counties, are part of the state's efforts to recover unpaid property taxes when local counties cannot do so.
Individuals attending these auctions can bid on properties. The state has a process for notifying taxpayers about their overdue taxes and the impending sale of their properties. If taxes remain unpaid, the properties are auctioned off.
The schedule for the auctions is as follows: Curry County's auction will be held at 10 a.m. on September 3 at 417 Gidding St., Clovis; Sierra County's event is set for 10 a.m. on September 4 at 1712 N. Date St., Ste. B, Truth or Consequences; Hidalgo County's auction is scheduled for 10 a.m. on September 9 at the Hidalgo County Manager’s Office, 305 Pyramid Street, Lordsburg; Grant County will hold its auction at 10 a.m. on September 10 at 1400 Highway 180 East, Silver City; and Catron County's event will occur at 10 a.m. on September 11 at 100 Main St., Reserve.
