Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández addresses tragedy, disaster relief, and women’s rights in latest posts

Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, recently posted several updates on social media addressing issues ranging from gun safety legislation to disaster relief and women's rights.

On August 27, 2025, Rep. Leger Fernández commented on a tragic event in Minneapolis, stating: "There are no words that can describe tragedies like what happened today in Minneapolis as students celebrated the first Mass of the new school year. The only thing we can do is act. Congress must get weapons of war off our streets and pass common sense gun safety legislation so".

The following day, she addressed ongoing flood recovery efforts in Mora County, New Mexico: "We’re monitoring the floods across Mora County and working with state and local officials to help those affected. Families in Mora have recovered $1.03 billion, but it’s not enough. I want all of the $5.6 billion we passed to get delivered and used. It’s time now. Ahora!" (August 28, 2025).

On August 29, 2025, Rep. Leger Fernández promoted her recent op-ed focused on advancing women's rights: "Read my new op-ed: A Better Future for Women Means Going Forward—Not Backward".

Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández has represented her district through multiple election cycles, securing victories against Sharon Clahchischilliage in 2024 with a narrow margin and previously defeating Alexis Martinez Johnson in both the 2022 and 2020 general elections.
