Nina Gallegos has been appointed as the new assistant coach for the Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU) women's soccer team, according to an announcement by head coach Nona Borden.
"Nina has great knowledge of the game and a great capacity to connect with the team," said Borden. "I am really excited we will be working together."
Gallegos joins ENMU after two seasons at Copperas Cove High School in Texas, where she served as assistant varsity coach and head junior varsity coach. During her tenure, she led training sessions and contributed to improving the junior varsity team's record from three or fewer wins in previous years to a 12-4-4 season. She also played a role in helping the program reach regionals for the first time in four years.
In summer 2025, Gallegos worked as a summer coach at IMG Academy, where she developed soccer training sessions and mentored athletes by emphasizing core values and work ethic.
Her coaching background includes two seasons as an assistant coach at Paris Junior College, where she was responsible for developing and evaluating student-athletes. Prior to that, Gallegos held positions as assistant head coach and interim head coach at William Penn from 2020 to 2022, overseeing travel logistics and recruitment communications during staff transitions.
Gallegos also coached as the U19 head girls soccer coach for Vision Soccer Academy in Des Moines, Iowa during summer 2021.
As a player, Gallegos competed for Centenary College of Louisiana, Houston Crush (ENCL), and Cypress Springs High School.
