The National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) in Albuquerque, New Mexico, is set to launch its first-ever art exhibition featuring works created by its staff and partners. The exhibition, titled "What We Bring to the Table," will open at the Center's Visual Art Museum on September 5 and run until June 7, 2026.
Zack Quintero, Executive Director of NHCC, expressed enthusiasm for the event: "Since the Center opened in 2000, our staff has been the bedrock of all the work we do as an institution." He added that this exhibition is a fitting way to celebrate NHCC's upcoming 25th anniversary in October by showcasing the creativity and dedication of its team.
The exhibition will display nearly 40 artworks across various mediums such as painting, drawing, sculpture, and photography. These pieces reflect the diverse influences of family, culture, community, and religion that inspire NHCC staff members. Some contributors are regular artists while others may not consider themselves artists but are inspired by their creative environment at NHCC.
NHCC Curator hazel batrezchavez noted the unique community that forms around the Art Museum: "Artists who are staff members bring their expertise, share their knowledge, and fill in gaps when needed to keep the Center going." She emphasized that this showcase provides recognition and honors their creative craft.
A free reception marking the grand opening will be held from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m., allowing attendees to explore the exhibition and meet participating artists. Further details and a list of artists can be found on NHCC's website at nhccnm.org/museum.
