Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has recently addressed several social issues in New Mexico through a series of posts on her official X (formerly Twitter) account. The governor highlighted ongoing efforts to combat hunger, the urgent need for foster families, and investments aimed at addressing the state's housing crisis.
On August 19, 2025, Governor Lujan Grisham stated, "New Mexico has worked hard to reduce hunger among children and senior citizens during my administration. Sadly, Trump’s reckless budget cuts pose a grave threat to this progress. Rest assured, we’ll keep doing everything possible to protect New Mexicans."
The following day, she turned attention to child welfare and foster care needs in the state. On August 20, 2025, she posted, "Children across New Mexico are waiting for caring adults who can provide them with a safe home and a brighter future. The need for #foster families in #NewMexico is urgent. Please visit https://t.co/9DxERnwVYG to see how you can help New Mexico’s most vulnerable children. @CYFDNM"
Later that same day, Governor Lujan Grisham discussed strategies to address housing insecurity: "Our investments in affordable and attainable housing, as well as homelessness prevention, will help solve New Mexico’s housing crisis. When we face a challenge of this magnitude, we must go all-in on smart, strategic solutions. New Mexicans––and our communities––deserve no less."
During her tenure as governor since 2019, Michelle Lujan Grisham has prioritized policies focused on social welfare programs targeting food security and affordable housing initiatives throughout New Mexico.
