On August 18, 2025, Haaland highlighted her alliance with local leaders in the state by posting: "Albuquerque City Councilor Nicole Rogers fights fiercely for improvements that Burqueños can see, touch, and feel. We share a vision for a safer and more equitable New Mexico. I'm honored to have her stand by my side in my run for New Mexico's next governor."
Addressing family issues on August 19, 2025, Haaland wrote: "The title that I will always be most proud of is Mom. Far too many mothers are struggling to raise their children, just like I did when I was raising my child. Lack of support, resources, and childcare have been issues far too long. I'm running for governor to fight for family-"
Later that day, she continued sharing her perspective on leadership: "What does it mean to 'Be Fierce'? For me, it's not a phrase but a mission. It means rolling up our sleeves to do the hard things and fight for what's right. I'm running for Governor because I understand the challenges New Mexicans are facing. And we must be fierce together to"
Deb Haaland’s candidacy comes after serving as the first Native American Cabinet secretary in U.S. history during her tenure at the Department of the Interior.
