The New Mexico Higher Education Department’s Financial Aid Division experienced a temporary disruption in its helpline services between August 13 and August 18. During this period, the division was unable to receive calls or voicemails through its financial aid helpline.
The department resolved the issue and restored full service by late morning on August 18. Financial Aid Director Heather Romero addressed the situation, stating, “We understand this is a busy time for students and families seeking assistance, and we appreciate the community’s patience as we worked to restore full service.”
Students and families who tried to contact the helpline during the outage are encouraged to reach out again either by phone at 1-800-279-9777 or by email at fin.aid@hed.nm.gov.
The department also welcomed students preparing for the new school year and urged them to seek help with financial aid services as needed.
