On August 11, 2025, Governor Lujan Grisham criticized actions taken by former President Donald Trump in Washington, D.C. She stated, "President Trump’s unilateral actions in Washington, D.C., do nothing to keep Americans safe, and show an alarming contempt for our laws and democratic norms."
Two days later, on August 13, she shifted focus to a popular cultural event in her state. In a post celebrating the arrival of chile season in New Mexico, she wrote: "Nothing says August in #NewMexico like the smell of fresh roasted chiles! Chile season is officially here.
