The Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to promote a new Advanced Placement (AP) Business Principles Finance Course for students. This initiative was discussed during a presentation by Amanda Dawson, senior director of state and district partnerships at The College Board, who joined the Chamber's Board of Directors meeting virtually on July 24.

Peter Lorenz, chairman of the board at GACC and CEO of Unirac Inc., expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration. "Our Chamber has successfully worked hard both at a state level and an APS level to advocate for financial literacy courses. So, this partnership is exciting," he said.

The College Board, known for administering the SAT and AP programs nationwide, serves approximately 7 million students annually. This reach is part of what drives their Career Kickstart program, which aims to provide pathways for career-aware students. Currently in development are three programs: AP Cybersecurity, AP Networking, and AP Business with Personal Finance.

Dawson highlighted that the Career Kickstart program will focus on applied learning and problem-solving while developing technical and professional skills. It aims to connect careers with workforce needs and align with industry-recognized credentials and college credit. The program also emphasizes inclusivity and support for all students, teachers, and schools by eliminating barriers to student success.
