Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández, a U.S. Representative from New Mexico, recently used her social media platform to comment on immigration policy, public safety, and political developments.
On July 29, 2025, Leger Fernández posted about the Trump administration’s stance toward DACA recipients: " The Trump administration just told Dreamers to self-deport.
DACA recipients are our neighbors, our nurses, our teachers, our engineers.
These are good people. They’ve followed the rules. They’ve paid their taxes. They’ve built lives and families here. Telling them to leave https://t.co/bjpk2CROCz".
The following day, on July 30, she urged constituents to remain vigilant against scams and provided resources for reporting suspicious activity: "Make sure to report suspected scams to the NMDOJ at https://t.co/nx6yeNqErG or by calling 505-490-4060. https://t.co/lWjYu5xcQ1".
Later that same day, Leger Fernández commented on the political climate leading up to the next election cycle: "UPDATE: they're REALLY scared to lose the 2026 elections. https://t.co/cCdGNxbLDi https://t.co/WbwWMnM7fC".
Leger Fernández has served as a representative since winning her seat in 2020. She was re-elected in both 2022 and 2024, defeating Alexis Martinez Johnson in both 2020 and 2022 with over 58% of the vote each time and Sharon Clahchischilliage in 2024 by a narrower margin.
