The Museum of New Mexico Press (MNMP) has appointed Erin Adair-Hodges as its new director. The announcement was made by MNMP and the Museum Resources Division (MRD) of the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs (NMDCA). Adair-Hodges, a writer and educator with experience leading both small and commercial literary presses, is a native of central New Mexico. She has authored two poetry collections, "Let’s All Die Happy" and "Every Form of Ruin," published by the University of Pittsburgh Press. Her family recently returned to New Mexico from Kansas City, Missouri, where she worked as an editor and professor.
Adair-Hodges expressed her enthusiasm for her new role: "It’s an incredible honor to be charged with stewarding the press as we continue to honor the voices and visions of our New Mexican culture, history, and art." She added that this opportunity feels like "the best kind of homecoming."
David Rohr, Division Director of Museum Resources, praised Adair-Hodges' qualifications: "Erin’s experience in the literary arts is exceptional and we are elated to welcome her as the new director of MNMP. I’m confident that her leadership will sustain MNMP’s long tradition of publishing books that complement the exhibitions of the state museums and celebrate New Mexico’s rich culture."
Since 1961, MNMP has focused on publishing books about New Mexico's culture and showcasing state museum collections. These publications aim to educate while entertaining readers about the state's history, cultures, and arts. The press has received numerous literary and design awards over the years. The hiring of Adair-Hodges underscores NMDCA's dedication to preserving and promoting New Mexico's vibrant history and culture.
