NFIB supports legislation aimed at improving permitting efficiency for small businesses

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) has announced its support for H.R. 3898, known as the Promoting Efficient Review for Modern Infrastructure Today (PERMIT) Act. This legislation aims to amend the Clean Water Act's permitting framework, which has been a point of contention for small business owners due to frequent changes.

According to Adam Temple, NFIB Senior Vice President for Advocacy, "Over the last several decades small business owners have dealt with constant changes to the CWA which has prevented them from being able to plan for the future." He further said that the PERMIT Act would "realign the CWA to its original intent," providing clear rules and preserving water quality.

NFIB sent a letter to the U.S. House of Representatives urging swift action on this bill. The organization believes that enacting H.R. 3898 will provide certainty in the permitting process and help small businesses grow without excessive regulation. A vote in favor of this bill will be considered an NFIB Key Vote for the 119th Congress.
