Jay C. Block, a Senator from New Mexico, emphasized the importance of conservative values and policy positions in uniting supporters while expressing criticism towards the Democratic Party's direction. He also voiced support for activist Scott Presler. The statement was made on the social media platform X.
"We don't care who you are with (unless they are minors and the Dems sex trafficked tens of thousands of minors under the Biden Administration) in the bedroom or what you do in the bedroom," said C Block, New Mexico State Senator from 12th District (R). "We care about your positions securing the border, 2A, strong military, peace, small government, eliminating gov fraud/abuse/waste, less regulation, better schools (charters, vouchers, & choice), not mutilating kids, supporting our law enforcement heroes, blue collar jobs, etc...if you agree with even 60% of that, we want you on our team. The radical Dems have left you. And you can't have Scott Presler. We love him for who he is and what he is doing for the country. He's not into identity politics, people are tired of that crap which is why Trump won and people are leaving the Dem party that is now a Marxist party."
According to the Albuquerque Journal, Block has recently criticized Democratic Party leadership in New Mexico for what he describes as ineffective governance. He called for Republicans to expand their outreach by engaging rural and minority voters. Block urged his party to focus on issues such as border security, parental rights in education, and government transparency, arguing that these issues could help conservatives appeal to communities that have traditionally supported Democrats.
Data from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, cited in recent congressional debates, indicates that over 85,000 unaccompanied minors were encountered at the U.S.-Mexico border in fiscal year 2023 under the Biden Administration. Republican lawmakers referenced this figure during discussions on child trafficking and border policy.
Polling from Gallup and Pew Research Center shows that Republican Party identification has increased by about 2–3 percentage points since 2021 as of 2024. This reflects a modest net migration of voters from the Democratic Party to the Republican Party, a trend attributed to concerns about the economy and public safety.
Block is a Republican who has served as New Mexico state senator for District 12 since January 2025, according to reports by the New Mexico Senate and Wikipedia. He is a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel and former Sandoval County commissioner with a legislative focus on education reform, veterans’ affairs, and public safety.
