Attorney General Raúl Torrez expressed disappointment following the Supreme Court's decision to allow the enforcement of a presidential executive order that limits birthright citizenship in certain regions. He reassured New Mexicans that this ruling would not affect their communities due to the state's dedication to upholding the rule of law.

"While we are disappointed that the Supreme Court has allowed the President’s unconstitutional executive order limiting birthright citizenship to be enforced in certain parts of the country, New Mexicans should take comfort in the fact that this decision will not impact our communities because of our steadfast commitment to upholding the rule of law and our willingness to fight to uphold our constitutional order," Torrez said.

He remains optimistic that the executive order, which he describes as "clearly unlawful and deeply harmful to millions of Americans," will eventually be overturned. "We remain confident that this Executive Order – clearly unlawful and deeply harmful to millions of Americans – will ultimately be struck down," he added. Torrez emphasized his ongoing commitment to defending the Constitution and protecting all individuals residing in the United States.

"Until then, our fight continues, and we will not waver in our commitment to safeguarding the Constitution and the dignity of all who call this country home," he concluded.
