The New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services participated in the 2025 Native American Training Institute Veterans Symposium on June 20 at the Isleta Resort & Casino Conference Center. The event focused on enhancing services for veterans and their families, with a theme emphasizing the empowerment of native women warriors, collaboration, and communication.
State, federal, and tribal agencies, along with veteran organizations and community partners, gathered to address gaps in veteran care and foster lasting partnerships. Attendees had the chance to engage directly with officials from various organizations including NMDVS, Veterans Business Outreach, Tribal Liaison Program, Veterans Administration, and Tribal Community Leaders. These interactions provided veterans an opportunity to express concerns and contribute to shaping service delivery in their communities.
The symposium promoted open dialogue and relationship-building to create a more responsive support network. Participants attended sessions led by experts covering topics such as healthcare updates (PACT, Compact, Mission Acts), PTSD, pre-need planning, suicide prevention, state benefits from NMDVS, entrepreneurship, and VA benefits.
The NATI Symposium remains a platform for communication and collaboration among agencies while encouraging veterans to play an active role in their care.
