The New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services (NMDVS) is organizing a Local Community Veterans Call on June 27, 2025. The event will take place from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the American Legion Post 13, located at 1201 Legion Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM.
This quarterly meeting aims to provide veterans with updates and connect them with benefits they are entitled to. Topics for discussion include lifetime state park passes, rural transportation support, mental health resources, property tax exemptions, healthcare updates for veterans, and legislative changes.
NMDVS benefits personnel will be available to assist eligible veterans and unmarried widows or widowers in applying for property tax waivers, exceptions, and lifetime park passes. Certified Veteran service officers will also be present to help with VA benefits claims, healthcare eligibility, disability compensation, and other state benefits.
Participants are required to bring specific documents to verify eligibility. These include a copy of DD-214 or equivalent forms such as NA 13038, NOAA Form 56-16, or PHS Form 1867; a VA Award Letter showing the percentage of disability; an NM Driver’s License or ID; voter registration card; or the most recent NM Personal Income Tax Return. Widows or widowers should bring copies of marriage and death certificates.
The event is free of charge. For more information or to find an office nearby, contact NMDVS at 1-866-433-8387 or visit their website at https://www.nmdvs.org/.
