Readers of all ages are invited to participate in the 2025 Summer Reading Program organized by the Public Library of Albuquerque-Bernalillo County. The program offers a free chance for the community to engage with books and activities throughout the summer. Registration, which began on May 9, is available online at abqlibrary.org/summerreading. The program will take place from May 31 to July 26.
City officials have announced that this year's theme, "Color Our World," emphasizes how reading can inspire creativity and strengthen family bonds.
The Chamber has expressed its support for the city's literacy initiative. Additionally, it runs the Albuquerque Reads program during each school year at three elementary schools within Albuquerque Public Schools. This program focuses on literacy and writing and provides take-home books for students to create their own home libraries.
