Indigenous rights event at UN Forum focuses on FPIC

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

The Implementation Project (TIP), a collaboration between the Native American Rights Fund and Colorado Law, will be engaging in the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII). TIP is organizing a side event titled "Implementing FPIC Across the Regions," featuring a panel of experts from Latin America, North America, Asia, and Africa. This discussion will focus on the UN Declaration's safeguard of Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC). Partners such as the National Congress of American Indians and Nia Tero will join TIP to analyze recent national legislation and Indigenous laws and customs.

The event, located at the UNHQ Building, will include contributions from Indigenous leaders, inter-tribal organizations, and various NGOs. TIP will present research from an upcoming publication to help Tribal governments and Indigenous Peoples develop and enforce laws related to FPIC.

Scheduled for April 24, 2025, the event requires confirmed UNPFII registration for attendance in Conference Room 4. Additional information, including the event details and registration requirements, is available on the UNPFII website.

For more insight into TIP's work, individuals are encouraged to follow the organization on LinkedIn or contact them via email at declaration@narf.org.
