Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has signed into law 60 bills, aimed at broadening healthcare access, boosting public safety, and fostering economic growth, among other areas. The legislative package seeks to address diverse state needs, including education and election reforms.
Key measures include the Turquoise Alert System (SB 41), augmenting public safety, and enhanced DNA data collection for certain offenders (HB 340). Economic development is targeted through initiatives like the Strategic Economic Development Site Readiness program (SB 169). Education is a focal point, with the Community School Fund & Framework (SB 387), Public Education Reform Fund Uses (SB 201), and Broadband for Education (SB 401) being established.
Lujan Grisham also moved to improve healthcare access and transparency. Bills such as HB 233 ensure diabetic foot ulcer equipment coverage, and HB 174 looks to reform pharmacy reimbursement plans. Furthermore, the Wildfire Prepared Act (SB 33) was enacted to safeguard natural resources.
Among other significant legislations, SB 16 allows non-major party voters to partake in primary elections, HB 586 mandates transparency in healthcare transactions, and SB 353 promotes better emergency response for search and rescue operations.
