This spring, the state of New Mexico is collaborating with the Alzheimer's Association to conduct a series of community forums throughout the region. These events are part of the "Take Action. Talk" initiative, aimed at encouraging New Mexicans to discuss their experiences with Alzheimer's disease or dementia and access resources from both state and community partners.

Emily Kaltenbach, Cabinet Secretary for the Aging and Long-Term Services Department, emphasized the importance of community support in her statement: “No one should have to face Alzheimer’s alone. Whether they are caregiving for a loved one or facing a diagnosis themselves, we hope that we can start to break the silence around Alzheimer’s, promote early detection, and ensure that everyone has the resources they need.”

The forums are scheduled as follows:

- Silver City: March 26 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Silver City Public Library

- Clayton: April 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Clayton Civic Center

- Tucumcari: May 8 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Tucumcari Convention Center

These gatherings will be free of charge and aim to offer an inviting environment for open dialogue, resource-sharing, and expert insights. Community members are encouraged to participate by sharing concerns, asking questions, and learning more about available services.

Attendees will be provided with light refreshments. Those interested in attending are requested to RSVP by calling 505-404-9857.
