As President Trump stepped forward to deliver his joint address to Congress, New Mexico Representative Melanie Stansbury chose to indulge in a moment of political theater, raising a sign that read: “This is not normal.”
In Stansbury’s attempt to brand Trump and his supporters as abnormal, she accidentally revealed a striking irony: it’s her own party’s extreme agenda that strays furthest from any semblance of normalcy.

Allowing Transgender Surgeries for Kids:
Supporting irreversible medical procedures on minors without their full understanding or consent—is not normal.
Stripping Away Parental Rights:
Advocating for policies that remove parents from critical decisions regarding their children’s education, healthcare, and upbringing—is not normal.
Ignoring Women’s Rights:
Failing to protect biological women by allowing men to compete in women’s sports, undermining fairness and safety—is not normal.
Not Knowing the Difference Between a Man and a Woman:
Denying basic biological and scientific truths to push a radical agenda—is not normal.
Prioritizing Criminal Illegal Immigrants Over New Mexican Citizens:
Ignoring the safety and well-being of legal residents while supporting policies that benefit illegal immigrants, especially those with criminal records, at the expense of law-abiding taxpayers—is not normal.
Disrespecting a Young Man Honored by the President:
Refusing to stand when DJ Daniel, a young man battling brain cancer, is recognized for his courage and achievements—is not normal.
Sending Billions of Dollars to Foreign Countries for Un-American Causes:
Wasting billions of taxpayer dollars to promote ideologies and policies overseas that do not align with American values—is not normal.
Not Putting American Businesses First:
Favoring foreign industries and corporations over hardworking American entrepreneurs and workers—is not normal.
Promoting Policies That Harm Energy Independence:
Attacking the oil and gas industry, which is vital to New Mexico’s economy, in favor of radical climate policies—is not normal.
Suppressing Free Speech and Silencing Opposition:
Supporting censorship and cancel culture instead of allowing open debate and discussion—is not normal.
Ignoring the Crisis at the Border:
Failing to secure the border, leading to increased crime, drug trafficking, and exploitation of children—is not normal.
Pushing Socialist Economic Policies:
Advocating for government overreach, excessive spending, and policies that drive inflation, hurting hardworking New Mexicans—is not normal.
Undermining Law Enforcement:
Supporting policies that defund and demoralize police officers while crime rates continue to rise—is not normal.
Weakening National Security:
Prioritizing the interests of other nations over the safety and sovereignty of the United States—is not normal.
Disrespecting the Constitution:
Supporting measures that infringe on Second Amendment rights, freedom of religion, and other fundamental liberties—is not normal.
Stansbury’s sign might as well have been a mirror reflecting her own party’s out-of-touch agenda.
The Democrats’ priorities have become increasingly misaligned with the core values of New Mexicans—faith, family, and freedom. For those who feel the Democrats no longer speak for them, Republicans offer a new political home for the sensible majority, with a return to common sense and our shared New Mexican values.
