Deb Haaland's campaign for governor of New Mexico has raised over $2 million in its first month, supported by more than 30,000 donors from all 33 counties in the state. This achievement sets her on course to surpass any previous candidate's fundraising record in their initial reporting period.
Haaland's campaign focuses on reducing costs, addressing crime, and promoting healthy communities. Her support base includes teachers, attorneys, healthcare professionals, retirees, and working residents of New Mexico. The average online donation was less than $43, with 97% of contributions under $100. Additionally, over 2,300 individuals have committed to recurring donations totaling more than $35,000 in sustained support.
Deb Haaland stated: “As I traveled the state, it’s clear that New Mexicans are ready to elect someone who has their back and will tackle our challenges head-on. In every position I’ve held, I’ve worked to change the system and I’ll bring that experience to the governor’s office. I’m honored to have widespread and grassroots support of New Mexicans who share my vision for our state.”
Recently concluding her campaign launch tour across 19 counties with nearly 4,000 attendees, Haaland received endorsements from Senator Ben Ray Luján and Representatives Teresa Leger Fernandez, Melanie Stansbury, Gabe Vasquez as well as over 80 local leaders and organizations.
Her fundraising aligns with New Mexico's statute prohibiting sitting state officials from raising funds during the legislative session.
