John Block, a representative for New Mexico's House District 51, has called for the censure and expulsion of U.S. Representative Al Green following an incident during President Trump's speech to Congress. Block expressed his views in a March 5 post on X.
"Censure and Expel Greene," said Block, State Representative. "Make an example out of him."
During a joint address to Congress on March 4, President Donald Trump spoke for two hours about various topics, including the United States' withdrawal from the Paris Climate Accord and the World Health Organization. He also addressed Ukraine and shared a letter from Volodymyr Zelensky, who indicated readiness to negotiate and sign a minerals agreement. According to CNN, Trump announced Elon Musk as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), proposed making tax cuts from his first term permanent, and reinforced his stance on tariffs. Additionally, he discussed executive actions to ban transgender women from women's sports and efforts related to Greenland.

Texas Congressman Al Green was removed from the House Chamber after standing and shaking his cane at President Trump as he began his speech. Some members of Congress supported Green's actions while others disapproved. House Speaker Mike Johnson instructed the House sergeant at arms to remove Green. Outside the chamber, Green told media outlets that Trump's budget would result in Medicaid cuts, which he said prompted his actions because Trump lacks a mandate to cut healthcare for low-income individuals.
On March 6, according to the Associated Press, the House voted to censure Al Green for his conduct during Trump's address. The resolution passed with a vote of 224-198, with ten Democrats joining all Republicans in censuring Green for standing and shouting at President Trump that he "had no mandate." The censure resolution was sponsored by Representative Dan Newhouse and serves as an official expression of disapproval by the House regarding Green's behavior.
Block is not only a representative but also the Founder and Editor of the Piñon Post. His educational background includes an MBA from Eastern New Mexico University and a BA in Business Administration from Rutgers University.
