Agents with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at the Lordsburg Station responded to a 911 call from migrants, according to a January 13 post on X by El Paso Sector Chief Patrol Agent Anthony "Scott" Good.

"Quick response in the face of danger. USBP Lordsburg Agents acted fast after 4 migrants called 911, stranded and exposed to severe weather. Thanks to their efforts, all individuals were safely rescued," wrote Chief Patrol Agent Good in the January 13 post on X.

According to CBP's webpage dedicated to the station, agents at the Lordsburg Station are responsible for covering 80 miles of international border and 4,256 square miles in the southwestern part of New Mexico. The Lordsburg Liberal, in 1931, referred to a Border Patrol station in Lordsburg, and local historians note that two years earlier, a Border Patrol supervisor worked out of a house on A Street in Lordsburg.

The U.S. Border Patrol El Paso Sector oversees approximately 268 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border, spanning West Texas and New Mexico. The New Mexico portion includes operations at the Lordsburg, Deming, and Santa Teresa stations. Agents patrol a mix of urban areas, desert terrain, and mountainous regions to monitor and secure the border. The El Paso Sector in New Mexico is also responsible for processing individuals encountered along the border. The sector collaborates with state and local law enforcement for security operations and uses surveillance and technology to detect unauthorized crossings and other border activities.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is a federal law enforcement agency under the Department of Homeland Security, responsible for safeguarding the nation’s borders and preventing the illegal entry of people and contraband. Established in 1924, it operates at 328 ports of entry and protects 7,000 miles of land borders and 95,000 miles of maritime borders.
