Today, environmental and community groups in New Mexico will join legislators to highlight significant legislation aimed at protecting the climate and fostering thriving communities. Due to an increase in COVID-19 cases at the Roundhouse, the rally scheduled for 1 p.m. has been moved outdoors. Some informational tables will also be set up outside, but attendees who feel comfortable can still go inside to learn how to lobby their legislators, receive support in finding and connecting with them, and speak at committee hearings.

The day's agenda includes several events starting at 9 a.m., where community groups, state and city agencies, and solar companies will host informational tables both inside and outside based on their preference. Participants are encouraged to sign in at the Sierra Club table located outside the east doors of the Rotunda.

From 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will be an Electric Vehicle Showcase hosted by the Santa Fe Electric Vehicle Interest Group. Members of this group will display their electric vehicles outside on the east side of the Roundhouse and will be available to answer questions.

Between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., participants will receive training before meeting with their legislators in groups. Lobby training sessions are scheduled in Room 326, where participants will learn lobbying techniques and get briefed on priority climate bills.

At 1 p.m., a Climate Justice rally is planned outside on the east side of the building. Attendees will hear from legislative champions such as Speaker Javier Martinez about important legislation and climate funding initiatives.

The event is sponsored by various organizations including Rio Grande Chapter of the Sierra Club, Affordable Solar, Audubon Southwest, Conservation Voters NM, Democratic Party of NM Environmental Justice Caucus, Moms Clean Air Force — EcoMadres, Renewable Energy Industries Association of NM among others.

Visuals for today include students from Global Warming Express speaking at rallies and committee hearings as well as displays of electric vehicles.
