State Senator-Elect Jay Block: 'Every district needs a representative who will work every day'

State Senator-Elect Jay Block has called for the resignation of Texas Representative Kay Granger following reports of her absence from Congress. Block made this statement in a December 22 post on the social media platform X.

"I don't care what party, this is wrong," said C Block. "Resign!!! Every district needs a representative who will work every day. Resign and call for a new election!"

Since 1997, Texas Congresswoman Kay Granger has represented the state's 12th Congressional District. She announced that she would not seek re-election in 2024 and stepped down as chair of the House Appropriations Committee in March 2024. According to Fox News, her last recorded vote was cast in July. A reporter from the Dallas Express located Granger at a retirement facility offering memory care services. It remains unclear whether she resides specifically in the memory care ward.

Fox News also reported that Granger returned to Capitol Hill in November for her portrait unveiling as Appropriations Committee Chairwoman and a reception held in her honor.

Granger issued a statement to Fox News addressing her situation: "As many of my family, friends, and colleagues have known, I have been navigating some unforeseen health challenges over the past year," she said. "However, since early September, my health challenges have progressed making frequent travel to Washington both difficult and unpredictable. During this time, my incredible staff has remained steadfast, continuing to deliver exceptional constituent services, as they have for the past 27 years." She did not provide further details about her health issues.

In his post on X, Block shared content from the Libs of TikTok account which said: "JUST IN: "Missing" Congresswoman Kay Granger (R-TX) who hasn’t been seen for 6 months, was found living in a dementia care facility. She’s been in office since 1997. She’s 81 years old. TERM LIMITS."

According to his website, Jay Block is a retired United States Air Force Lieutenant Colonel and former nuclear weapons officer. He was the first Republican elected to the Sandoval County Commission where he prioritized economic development and public safety and earned endorsements from both Firefighters and Sheriff's Deputies unions.
