Nella Domenici announced that the Albuquerque Police Officers Association (APOA), representing more than 800 officers from the Albuquerque Police Department and Aviation Police, has endorsed her candidacy. Domenici has pledged to support law enforcement personnel.
According to a press release by Nella for Senate, Domenici claims that Heinrich's alignment with Biden and Harris on border policies has worsened New Mexico’s crime crisis by allowing dangerous individuals, cartels, and a significant influx of fentanyl into the state.
"Our police officers do such a hard job and are on the frontline of our crime crisis in New Mexico," says Domenici. "I am thankful that they willingly take to the streets every single day to protect our families. I am equally appreciative of the APOA’s support and their endorsement of our movement to bring common sense and true bipartisanship back to our state’s federal delegation. New Mexicans are tired of out-of-control crime everywhere you go in our state."
The endorsement from Albuquerque law enforcement follows statewide criticism of Heinrich’s border security record by sheriffs, who have voiced their support for Nella Domenici’s U.S. Senate campaign, according to a press release by Nella for Senate.
"Our endorsement is based on your continued support for law enforcement and public safety as a whole," the APOA said. "Your ability to understand the needs of public safety at the local level makes us believe that you are the best candidate. You bring a commonsense approach toward making decisions that will be fair, competent, and based on the principles of what is right."
