ALBUQUERQUE – Today, the City of Albuquerque celebrated the expansion of Netflix’s Mesa Del Sol campus, which has grown from its initial 28 acres to 108 acres. The project included the development of four purpose-built soundstages, three mills, one production office, and two stage support buildings. Netflix came to Albuquerque in 2018 and has been awarded a total of $5.5 million in Local Economic Development Act (LEDA) funding, $6 million in in-kind infrastructure from the City of Albuquerque, and $27 million in State LEDA funding.
During this phase of the project, Netflix hired 2,800 construction workers. In addition, between 2021 to 2023 Netflix employed over 4,000 cast and crew members in New Mexico.
“Netflix is investing in Albuquerque because they recognize we have the incentives, skilled crew members, and ample space required for great productions,” said Cyndy McCrossen, Film Liaison for the City of Albuquerque. “The ongoing growth in the film industry not only establishes Albuquerque as a film hub but also creates jobs and career opportunities for our families.”
“This is more than just an expansion of Netflix’s facility; it’s an expansion of opportunities for our families,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “The film industry is transforming our economy, creating jobs, supporting local businesses, and spurring projects like the media academy at the Rail Yards. This growth continues to inspire and show people that they can build a future in film right here at home.”

Netflix has directly invested nearly $575 million into film productions in New Mexico. When including non-Netflix productions that have utilized the facility, the total investment approaches $900 million.
“The Netflix project is a major boost for Albuquerque's economy,” said Economic Development Director Max Gruner. “It's not just about creating good-paying jobs in the industry—we know that the money Netflix spends in our community is supporting small businesses. From local restaurants to car rentals and everything in between, it's about sparking growth that has a ripple effect that adds to the city’s economic growth.”
As part of Netflix’s commitment to sustainability, they have incorporated onsite solar and battery storage systems, geothermal heating and cooling all-electric appliances; electric vehicle fast chargers were also installed on site. These features will help reduce the studio’s carbon footprint minimize environmental impact lower operating costs increase energy efficiency facilities.
