Nella Domenici, a Republican U.S. Senate candidate for New Mexico, released her first TV ad for the 2024 campaign this week. The ad is titled “Monroe” after the street in Albuquerque where Domenici grew up.
The ad is intended to emphasize the Domenici family’s political legacy in New Mexico, according to a media statement provided by the campaign. Pete Domenici, Nella’s father, represented New Mexico in the U.S. Senate for 36 years. The campaign also references the work of Nancy Domenici, Nella’s mother, who is a mental health advocate in the state.
According to the campaign, the ad is intended to bring attention to Nella Domenici’s "journey from a hard-working businesswoman" to her recent announcement that she will run for the Senate seat.
“I’m proud to continue the Domenici legacy of delivering more for New Mexico," Nella says in the ad. She also says she "learned the value of leadership from my parents in Albuquerque.”
The ad’s voiceover is performed by the narrator who voiced campaign ads for Pete Domenici, and is intended as "a nostalgic touch that ties Nella’s campaign to her father's storied career,” according to the campaign statement.
The campaign said the ad is backed by a “six figure”budget.
Nella Domenici will face current Senator Martin Heinrich, a Democrat first elected in 2013.
