UNM Anderson students Eddie Acosta, Andrew Salazar, and AJ Dille showcased their sales talent by securing second, fourth, and fifth place, respectively, in the virtual RNMKRS international role-play sales competition. The competition, which took place on April 10-11, featured over 1,000 students from 47 universities, with Acosta scoring 9,589, Salazar scoring 9,571, and Dille scoring 9,542 out of a perfect score of 10,000.

Associate Professor Dimitri Kapelianis, the director of the UNM Sales and Business Development Center, expressed his pride in the students' achievements, stating, “I am incredibly proud of Eddie, Andrew, and AJ as exemplars of the excellence of Anderson’s sales program.” He highlighted the consistent success of Anderson students in the competition as a testament to the quality of sales talent being nurtured at the school.

Reflecting on his success, Acosta credited his active preparation and continuous skill refinement during the simulations, stating, “I attribute my success to active preparation and refining my skills each time I completed a simulation.” He also expressed gratitude to professors Dimitri and Wyatt for their support and effective teaching methods that contributed to his success in the competition.

The RNMKRS competition provides participants with real-time practice in essential selling steps, such as introduction, discovery, presentation, objections, and closing, through dynamic simulations leading up to the competition day. Acosta, Salazar, and Dille collectively completed 400 simulations, underscoring their dedication to honing their sales skills.

The RNMKRS competition utilizes an app-based technology featuring an artificially intelligent customer bot named Alex Taylor, which guides students through key concepts and offers immediate feedback to enhance their performance.

UNM Anderson's success in the RNMKRS competition highlights the school's commitment to preparing students for the competitive world of sales. For more information on the UNM Center for Sales and Development, interested individuals can visit https://salescenter.mgt.unm.edu/.
