Arrowhead Center at New Mexico State University is making strides in promoting economic development through innovation and entrepreneurship, with one of its economic development officers, Kristin Morehead, standing out for her impactful work not only within the state but also in the region.

Recently, Morehead was honored as one of the Borderland Women Tech by Progress 321 and El Paso Matters, in recognition of Women’s History Month in March. Reflecting on her role, Morehead shared, “What I enjoy most about my job is working alongside business owners and entrepreneurs to help them connect with resources and programs that move their businesses forward, and building supportive relationships.”

Having joined NMSU in 2013, Morehead has played a pivotal role in overseeing various community-facing entrepreneurial support programs at Arrowhead Center. This includes managing programs such as the community sprint accelerator programs, Arrowhead Ventures, the Enterprise Advisor Network, the annual WE Mean Business conference, and specialized enterprise research projects related to agri-business.

Expressing her enthusiasm for her work, Morehead stated, “Every day is a little different, and I have learned about so many different industries while assisting our talented entrepreneurs on exciting projects.” Morehead, an NMSU alumna, has earned all three of her degrees from the university, culminating in a Ph.D. in educational leadership and administration last year.
