The Albuquerque Police Department's Traffic Division conducted a citywide illegal street racing operation over the weekend, resulting in officers breaking up three separate events. Kathryn Edmiston, 21, was arrested after officers noticed her vehicle in a parking stall of the Maverick gas station located at 5001 Jefferson Street N.E. Edmiston fled from officers on March 30, when they were conducting a similar operation and was booked into MDC on a warrant for Reckless Driving and Aggravated Fleeing Law Enforcement (2 counts).

According to the report, the three racing events were taking place in the Valley, Northeast, and Northwest Area Commands. Officers escorted several large groups off private property and issued 38 citations.

In a statement, the Albuquerque Police Department mentioned that the crackdown on illegal street racing is part of their ongoing efforts to ensure public safety. The department is committed to addressing such activities that pose risks to both participants and the community.
