NMSU Global introduces Apple Vision Pro microlearning

New Mexico State University (NMSU) has announced that its Global Campus is introducing two state-of-the-art microlearning courses, coinciding with the launch of the Apple Vision Pro. Participants in these courses will delve into the practical applications of Virtual Reality (VR) in instructional design, sharpening their skills to create immersive e-learning experiences and build a robust portfolio.

Andrew Sedillo, NMSU Global's Director of Microcredentials Instructional Design, leads one of these courses titled "Designing the Future: Instructional Design in the Metaverse." This course, along with another called "Spatial Computing," utilizes Apple's latest spatial computing device - the Apple Vision Pro. The device revolutionizes work, learning, and entertainment by featuring a high-resolution display, an eye-tracking system, and visionOS. It offers an immersive spatial computing experience that aligns with NMSU Global's microlearning objectives. According to a press release by NMSU, "Spatial Computing," which costs $500, delves into storytelling fundamentals in virtual reality. It covers scripting, emotional impact, and interactive VR experience design.

Cortney Harding, who teaches the spatial computing course said in a press release by NMSU: "Spatial computing is not just about understanding technology; it's about crafting stories that resonate in a virtual space." Harding added: "Our course is designed to empower students to create experiences that are not just seen or heard but deeply felt. This is where storytelling meets innovation, and I'm excited to guide our learners through this incredible journey."

Sedillo also commented on the new offerings saying: "We are inspiring a new wave of educators to build immersive learning environments in the metaverse. This course is about harnessing the potential of VR to revolutionize how we teach and learn."

The NMSU Global Campus has been delivering adaptable career-centric online learning opportunities since 1888. Catering to students in New Mexico, nationwide, and worldwide, the Global Campus offers a range of innovative programs.
