New Mexico State University (NMSU) is gearing up to host the highly anticipated NMSU Learn-A-Palooza, a fun and educational event aimed at engaging families in a variety of disciplines. Formerly known as STEM Fest, this multi-disciplinary block party is designed to showcase the educational offerings of NMSU and provide families with an opportunity to participate in activities related to science, technology, engineering, art, math, health, and more.

The event, which will take place on March 2 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., is a collaboration between NMSU's College of Health, Education and Social Transformation, the STEM Outreach Center, the NMSU Provost's Office, the NMSU Library, STEM Connection in the College of Engineering's Office of Outreach and Recruitment, and the NMSU College of Arts and Sciences.

According to College of HEST Dean Yoshi Iwasaki, the goal of NMSU Learn-A-Palooza is to create a welcoming and inspiring space for families, youth, and children to explore college options, career opportunities, and lifelong learning. Dean Iwasaki emphasizes the event's significance in showcasing the collaboration between all colleges at NMSU and leveraging the university's extensive network with local school districts, community and governmental organizations, and local businesses.

The block party will feature a wide array of interactive career and learning sessions, games, information booths, presentations, and even a K-12 student parade. In addition, there will be informational sessions from various members of NMSU's local and extended communities. The event will take place both indoors and outdoors, with activities happening at Preciado Park and the surrounding buildings.

To ensure that everyone can enjoy the festivities, the event is free and open to the public. However, registration is required and can be done at Preciado Park. Attendees will also have the opportunity to watch the NMSU women's basketball game for free. Tickets will be provided to children ages 12 and younger, and the game will start at 2 p.m. on the same day.

NMSU Learn-A-Palooza is a continuation of the legacy of STEM Fest, which was originally created by Susan Brown, former director of the STEM Outreach Center and dean of the former College of Education. The last STEM Fest in 2019 attracted over 800 participants to the NMSU campus, highlighting the community's enthusiasm for this type of event.

The event is made possible through the generous sponsorship of the Glass Family, Aprendamos Family of Services, and the Southwest Outreach Academic Research Evaluations & Policy Center.

Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to engage in hands-on learning and explore the educational possibilities that NMSU has to offer. Mark your calendars for March 2 and join NMSU for a day of fun, discovery, and inspiration.
