The New Mexico Economic Development Department (EDD) recently announced that the New Mexico Film Office (NMFO) has disclosed the filming of "Tyler Perry’s Joe’s College Road Trip," with shooting locations situated in and around Las Cruces. The production is set to employ a workforce of 90 New Mexicans, including 45 crew members and 45 background personnel.

Directed and produced by Tyler Perry and Angi Bones, the film features a cast that includes Tyler Perry, Jermaine Harris, Amber Reign Smith, Bethany Anne Lind, Jeremy Gimenez, Millie Jackson, Wil Deusner, Patricia Williams, and Nickolas Wolf. According to a press release by EDD, the storyline centers on B.J., who embarks on a cross-country college visit with his grandfather Joe. This trip challenges their understanding of each other's perspectives and ultimately leads to a journey of self-discovery and intergenerational respect.

Dona Ana County Senator Jeff Steinborn expressed his enthusiasm about the project in an EDD press release. "We are thrilled to welcome Tyler Perry and ‘Joe's College Road Trip’ to Las Cruces," said Steinborn. "As one of America's most prolific Directors, we're excited to be able to offer our great outdoor locations and warm winter filming climate to this prestigious film production."

Amber Dodson, the Director of NMFO also commented on the new project in an EDD press release. "This project marks an exciting chapter for New Mexico's flourishing film industry and showcases the vibrant energy of Las Cruces," Dodson said. "Not only will this production generate employment and economic growth, but it will also shine a spotlight on the unique charm and cinematic potential of our state."

Operating under the EDD umbrella, NMFO serves the local, national, and international film and television industry. As stated on its About webpage provided by NMFO itself, its efforts are dedicated to sustaining and advancing New Mexico's film incentive, fostering growth in the film, television, and digital media sector, and it aims to create and expand economic opportunities within the entertainment industry.
