New Mexico State University (NMSU) has announced the extension of its online accelerator, the Business Model Sprint, under the Scale Up New Mexico program. The initiative is targeted at tech startups in the state and is aimed at enhancing their business models to ensure sustainable success in the marketplace.
According to a press release by NMSU, the Business Model Sprint caters to New Mexico entrepreneurs and startups that aim to refine and validate their business models. The free accelerator will run every Thursday from Feb. 15 to March 21. Interested individuals are encouraged to apply before the Feb. 2 deadline. Successful applicants will be notified of their acceptance by Feb. 7. The six-week program will involve interactive sessions covering various aspects of business model development, guiding participants through optimization for sustainable growth and market success.
Carlos Murguia, program manager for Scale Up NM, said, "Our Sprint model is designed to facilitate meaningful collaboration between entrepreneurs and stakeholders, enabling seamless integration into the entrepreneurship ecosystem." He further added that this results in valuable connections that can lead to potential investments and partnerships.
As part of Scale Up NM, Business Model Sprint contributes to a suite of programs supporting early-stage startups' growth. According to another press release by NMSU, operating under Arrowhead Center, it complements available resources such as business development assistance with small business innovation research/small business technology transfer (SBIR/STTR), along with various commercialization support services.
The Scale Up NM webpage provided by NMSU states that the program contributes towards community development in New Mexico by fostering local innovation and working towards economic equity. It targets industry sectors including outdoor recreation, tourism, clean energy, arts, value-added agriculture, industrial trade, and healthcare. Through collaborations with Sandia National Laboratories and NM Startup Factory, Scale Up NM addresses barriers to commercialization - particularly for women - while promoting investment education events.
