NMSU appoints new dean of graduate school and associate provost for international affairs

New Mexico State University (NMSU) has announced the appointment of Ranjit Koodali as the forthcoming dean of the graduate school and associate provost for International Affairs. Koodali, who previously served as a tenured professor of chemistry at Western Kentucky University, is set to assume his new role at NMSU on Jan. 16.

A distinguished academic, Koodali holds a Ph.D. in photocatalysis and a Master of Science degree in chemistry. He is also slated to become a 2023 American Chemical Society Fellow. The search advisory committee that selected him was chaired by Lakshmi Reddi, the dean of the College of Engineering, according to an NMSU press release.

"I am delighted Dr. Koodali is joining NMSU, and we have high expectations that he will do a great job of integrating and improving our graduate school and international affairs operations," said Alan Shoho, NMSU provost and chief academic officer, as per the same press release.

Reddi also praised Koodali's experience in university administration. "Dr. Koodali brings a wealth of experience from his prior affiliations as dean of the graduate school at the University of South Dakota," Reddi said in an NMSU press release. "He is very knowledgeable about all dimensions of graduate school administration and well-engaged in the Council of Graduate Schools. He brings a fresh perspective to New Mexico State."

Koodali expressed gratitude for his appointment and eagerness to serve NMSU in his new role. "I am truly grateful to NMSU for this wonderful opportunity and am eager to serve NMSU to the best of my abilities," he said in an NMSU press release. "The opportunity to also help with International Affairs operations seems to provide a rich and fascinating experience, being a first-generation immigrant myself. Serving the various constituents at NMSU will be a very rewarding experience."

According to the NMSU Graduate School webpage, the school aims to make quality education accessible and affordable. It offers diverse educational experiences and innovative approaches to graduate education. In collaboration with faculty, the NMSU Graduate School is dedicated to supporting students from various cultural and economic backgrounds in achieving success in their educational pursuits.
