Acting EDD Secretary Jon Clark said in a press release by EDD: "In the past year, the JTIP program has reached all corners of New Mexico. These grants give businesses the opportunity to train workers for higher-paying jobs and expand their workforce with new hires. JTIP is helping to boost economic security for New Mexico families."
JTIP offers financial support for classroom and on-the-job training for newly established positions in growing or relocating businesses over a period of up to six months. The program provides reimbursement ranging from 50% to 90% of employee wages and also covers custom training conducted at New Mexico public educational institutions. Originally established in 1972 as the Industrial Development Training Program, or "in-plant training," JTIP has facilitated over 1,600 training projects, resulting in the creation of nearly 47,000 jobs, according to the JTIP webpage provided by EDD.
