Los Alamos National Laboratory has announced the appointment of Jay Sures as the new chair of the board for Triad National Security LLC, the entity responsible for managing and operating the laboratory. Sures will succeed Michael Anastasio, who previously held directorial roles at both Los Alamos and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories.

He is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the agency, including its television, news broadcasting, and speakers divisions. In addition to his role at UTA, Sures serves on the University of California Board of Regents where he chairs the Compliance and Audit Committee and acts as vice-chair for the Health Services Committee, according to a press release by Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Thom Mason, president and CEO of Triad as well as director of Los Alamos National Laboratory, expressed his gratitude for Sures' appointment. "We are grateful to have Jay at the helm of the Triad Board," said Mason. "He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge from his career as a business executive, as a UC Regent and his leadership at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. He is a strong supporter of the Laboratory’s national security mission and a proven leader. We look forward to working with him as the board chair."
In response to his appointment, Sures expressed his eagerness to contribute to national lab missions. "I am honored to serve as chair of the board," said Sures. "Our national labs do critical work for the nation around science and national security, and I welcome the opportunity to ensure and continue the high quality and integrity of their missions."
