Sandia economist named energy association fellow

Sandia National Laboratories recently announced that Peter Kobos, a renowned economist and managerial figure within the institution, has been selected as a senior fellow of the United States Association for Energy Economics (USAEE). Kobos, who has been a member since 2000, received this recognition from the association for his significant contributions to the field of energy economics and to the association itself.

During the 40th meeting of the association held in Chicago on November 7, Kobos was honored at an awards ceremony. Having previously served as the association's vice president in 2016 and contributed to several national committees, he has been an active participant in the governing council. According to Sandia National Laboratories, Kobos highlighted the invaluable networking opportunities he gained through his involvement in various councils and committees. His professional focus is centered on improving the efficiency and economic sustainability of both renewable and fossil-fuel-based energy systems. Recently, he collaborated with experts from Sandia and the Department of Energy’s Water Power Technologies Office to enhance the efficiency and economic viability of water power devices.

"I’m thankful and honored to be recognized by the community," said Kobos according to a press release by Sandia National Laboratories. "I’m grateful for the time and counsel that many mentors have provided me over the years, and I value the opportunity to give back to the community in the same manner. This is an unexpected, true honor."

The USAEE was established in 1994 as a platform for professionals engaged in energy economics to exchange ideas and experiences. As per information provided by USAEE's About webpage, it is also known as being one of largest affiliates of International Association for Energy Economics with its diverse membership comprising individuals from corporate, academic, scientific, and government backgrounds. Unlike lobbying organizations or advocacy groups, USAEE is committed to fostering a policy-neutral environment with its main focus on advancing understanding and application of economics across all aspects of energy development and utilization.
