UNM Facilities Management names new Senior Associate Director

The University of New Mexico (UNM) has announced the appointment of Richard Henrard as the senior associate director of UNM Facilities Management (FM). Prior to this role, Henrard served as the Engineering Services - Institutional Project Delivery (ES-IPD) Team Lead and worked at Los Alamos National Labs (LANL) in New Mexico.

During his tenure at LANL, Henrard co-managed the Vertical Infrastructure team. He provided mentorship, coaching, and supervised project assignments for new recruits. Henrard earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Texas at Arlington and holds an Architectural License along with a NM General Contractors License (GB98). His career at UNM began in 1997 when he joined as a Facilities planner for the Health Sciences Center. He later ascended to the position of director of Planning, Design & Construction (PD&C) from May 2013 to January 2018. In this role, he demonstrated leadership in both major and minor capital projects, collaborated with various departments, and contributed to sustainability initiatives. His notable achievements include overseeing more than 13 LEED projects, according to a press release by UNM.

In a statement released by UNM, Alfred Sena, Facilities Management Director said: "Mr. Henrard brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role. Rick has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a deep understanding of project management and delivery, showcasing his commitment to the advancement and improvement of our facilities. We look forward to the positive impact his leadership will undoubtedly bring to our team and the University community."

UNM FM is responsible for managing the physical infrastructure including buildings, grounds, landscaping, and vehicles to cater to the needs of the university community. They play an essential role in supervising energy management, implementing sustainability initiatives, and introducing energy-efficient practices. Furthermore, UNM FM establishes and maintains standards for design, maintenance, and custodial services in line with the university's mission to create a supportive environment for students, faculty, and staff, according to the FM page provided by UNM.
