NMSU Cooperative Extension service staff member receives 2022 Roberts Memorial Staff Award

New Mexico State University (NMSU) announced that Monica J. Lury, administrative assistant at the Cooperative Extension Service Northern District Office, has been awarded the 2022 Stephen W. and Robert E. Roberts Memorial Staff Award. Lury, recognized for her contributions, has provided support to five district department heads and serves as the lead administrative assistant in county offices when needed. The award ceremony will take place on November 29 at Corbett Center Student Union.

Highlighting the significance of this recognition, The annual cash award, presented to a non-exempt employee demonstrating exceptional dedication and service to the university, will be bestowed upon Monica J. Lury at a ceremony on Nov. 29 at Corbett Center Student Union. As a dedicated 24-year employee of NMSU, Lury has efficiently managed administrative tasks for multiple county offices concurrently and played a crucial role in onboarding and training new employees, according to a press release by NMSU.

Speaking highly of her work, "Monica is an exemplary employee," said Christina Turner, Extension Northern District department head, according to a press release by NMSU. "She has proven herself self-sufficient and identifies the best way to keep the Northern District running smoothly. Monica keeps up-to-date on all NMSU processes and ensures that all other administrative assistants throughout the district are well informed and properly equipped to do their jobs. She routinely goes above and beyond to support the offices throughout the Northern District."

Expressing her commitment, "My favorite aspect of my job is helping people, whether it’s my co-workers or the youth of New Mexico," said Lury, according to a press release by NMSU. "I enjoy getting to know them, so that I know where I can help be beneficial in their lives."

To provide some context on her workplace, The New Mexico Cooperative Extension Service, a part of NMSU’s College of Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences, provides valuable, research-based information and programs to enhance the quality of life for residents in New Mexico. CES has a presence in all 33 counties, and numerous Tribal areas, and engages in partnerships with over 1,000 organizations, according to the Cooperative Extension Service website provided by NMSU.
