The University of New Mexico Health Sciences announced that UNM Hospital's fourth floor of the Critical Care Tower (CCT) will introduce its Sky Campus. This space, designated for staff use, will serve as a hub for wellness, education, and team-building activities, according to a press release by UNM Health Sciences.

The Employee Well-Being team at UNM Hospital, integral to the Sky Campus's design, will have an office within the facility. It serves team members from UNM Hospital, the Health Sciences Center, and the UNM School of Medicine. Accessible only through employee-specific elevators and stairs, the Sky Campus provides break areas and conference rooms for staff to unwind and conduct team meetings.

“We are excited to have this permanent space where we can meet with staff,” said Melissa McConnell-Hand, employee well-being specialist at UNM Hospital. “Sometimes our team members know that they need support but aren’t sure where to go. The Sky Campus will be a place where they can always go to receive the care that they need to return to the frontline."

The Sky Campus ensures that staff always have a dedicated space to relax. In addition to access to Employee Well-Being team consultation services, staff can enjoy various food options including fresh sandwiches, salads, and fruits alongside vending machines offering healthier alternatives.

“Our role is to support staff so that they can fulfill their purpose in their work here,” said Steven Nuanez, director of Employee Well-Being at UNM Hospital. “We are so proud and happy to have a place like the Sky Campus. A concrete reflection of our culture of well-being helps us serve our team members better.”
