Bernalillo County announced a that ribbon-cutting ceremony for Marble Urban Open Space situated at 905 Espanola St. NE. The site includes amenities such as a custom shade structure for outdoor classrooms, benches, a walking trail, and features an irrigation system, soil enhancements, and native plants, according to a press release by Bernalillo County.

The county's Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Division prioritizes Urban Open Space acquisition as one of its top 15 initiatives outlined in the Facility Master Plan. The strategy aligns with community health focus. This involves bolstering trails, enhancing outdoor education, and supporting local agriculture and food systems. Furthermore, the future may see pollinator homes/hives and basic gardening amenities introduced to the Marble Urban Open Space," said Bernalillo County in a press release.

"Building this open space on Marble and Espanola, right in the middle of busy Expo NM area creates a solid foundation of the Bernalillo County Urban Ag program. It is my stated desire that the county will continue to grow its support for open space resources unique to the urban environment for outdoor enjoyment, educational outreach and small-scale community-based local food agriculture," said District 3 Commissioner Adriann Barboa in another press release by Bernalillo County.

The Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Master Plan (PROS Plan) was approved by the Bernalillo Board of County Commissioners on Oct. 27, 2015. It serves as a guide for future parks' development over fifteen years. After two years of planning effort which included over 40 community meetings and final surveys conducted in Jun., each of the five commission districts prioritized projects detailed in Section 6 of PROS Plan which are now being implemented by County Parks and Recreation staff," as per information on Parks, Recreation & Open Space Master Plan webpage run by Bernalillo County.
