CNM among top 15% for 2025 Aspen Prize eligibility

Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) announced it has been selected as eligible for the Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence. This recognition by the Aspen Institute highlights performance and achievement among two-year colleges, according to a press release by CNM.

The eligible colleges are now required to submit detailed data and narratives outlining their approaches to improving student outcomes. Colleges are required to demonstrate notable, advancing, and fair student outcomes in areas such as first-to-second-year retention, awarded credentials, and completion and transfer rates. The Aspen Prize winner is set to be announced in spring 2025, according to a press release by CNM.

“We’re once again honored to be among the 150 community colleges that have been recognized as national leaders in helping students achieve their goals of entering the workforce or transferring on to a four-year college,” said CNM President Tracy Hartzler. “At CNM, we continuously strive to offer top-quality and affordable education and workforce training programs while providing robust support services to help all of our students. The success of our students is always our top priority, so we’re very proud to have earned this recognition from the highly regarded Aspen Institute. We look forward to helping more students reach their educational and career goals in the year ahead, and we look forward to participating in the next round of the Aspen Prize competition”, said Hartzler.

“These 150 colleges have achieved high and improving levels of student success for all students, including those who are often failed by our institutions,” said Josh Wyner, executive director of the Aspen Institute College Excellence Program. “We’re excited to learn over the coming months how they achieved that success so we can share the most impressive practices with others in the field,” said Wyner.
